Finally I made my first game. Well technically it is not my first game as I made bunch of games many years ago but I never really published them.
I only posted them on some long dead obscure forums back in the day. So let's call this my proper first game. So back to the game. Planetary Defense Force or PDF short - yeah that was not intentional.
I decided couple of months ago. Maybe back in August that I want to finally make a game or at least start a journey. I watched countless game dev videos on youtube but never done anything for past couple of years.
My main inspiration was Code Monkey Code Monkey and Brackeys that came back from retirement and brought us a shiny new tutorials for Godot engine.
So I watched their videos. I followed brackeys tutorials to make myself more familiar with Godot but I was kinda lost at what I want to make.
Well I know what game I want to make but my skill is in negative numbers for that kind of game - I will make separate post about it later.
I searched youtube and web for some easy to follow tutorials to get my grip on Godot. My plan was to follow tutorial and then add my own stuff on top of it.
And that is how I made PDF my first game in decade.
Here is the youtube tutorial that I followed from Kaan Alpar
So I was following tutorial and as I was getting to the end of it I started adding my own stuff. And I learned a lot this way.
I added more enemies, my own upgrade system, leveling system, I used different assets to challenge myself.
Now that I published my abomination that I calling a game I plan to work on it a bit more to add some things and try to polish it. But I will start working on a new project as I have still a lot learning in front of me.
